Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Solid Airman. We experienced a rare but severe icing episode (freezing fog), over the Rockies in the venerable old Dakota, resulting in an enforced descent below minimum safe altitude, in cloud, in an effort to divert to Kelowna...or ditch in Lake Okanagan. Throughout, there was Dusty standing by the cockpit with a canister of isopropyl deicing fluid...cool, stoic, just doing his job. A dying breed. Condolences to all who knew and loved him. - Posted by: Lcol L E olson (Ex CO 402 City of Winnipeg Squadron) on: Jun 28, 2026
